MEET THE BOARD
Mr Gumbo has attained, BJURIS, LLB, certificate in Mining and Minerals (Unin) and LLM (RAU). He is a practising attorney, and practices as such under the name and style Gumbo & Co Attorneys, since 1990 to date.
He has served inter alia as follows:
* Panel member of North West development facilitation appeal tribunal.
* Vice chairperson and treasurer, Black lawyers Association (North West Branch).
* Commissioner in small claims courts (Rustenburg and Mankwe).
* Acting Judge in the High Court of South Africa, North West Division (2009-2010).
* Examiner, Law Society of North West.
* Current board member of Potchefstroom School for Legal Practice (LSSA).
* Legal advisor to the BAKGATLA BA KGAFELA TRIBE.
Among the board of directors we have the expertise of Klaus Fischer, who is registered as a Professional Engineer. He is in possession of both the Mine Managers’ Certificates of Competency for Coal mines and for Metalliferous mines and has extensive experience in gold, platinum, chrome and coal mining. He is also a member of the Association of Mine Managers of South Africa and the Institute of Directors of Southern Africa.
During his earlier career development programme he was seconded by Gold Fields of South Africa to Thyssen Schachtbau AG, a mining contracting company in Germany specialising in shaft sinking (including freeze shafts), tunnel boring and haulage development and rehabilitation. He was instrumental in the establishment of various mining ventures in Southern Africa and is one of the founding members of the Rhino Africa Mining group of companies.
Nicky is a Chartered Accountant, ACCA.
He has been co-opted to the board of directors of Newrak Mining since 2004, first as Consultant, later permanently as the Finance Director, since March 2011.
He founded public practice accounting firm in 1995 and provided accounting and tax services to professionals and small & medium enterprises. The firm had grown swiftly to become successful as a service provider and had added 2 more partners and more than 25 permanent staff members until 2011, when Nicky partially left public practice to join the Group until recently, when he became the full time Group Finance Director.
Tommie Kruger has an AMBA accredited MBA degree and is the holder of the Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency and is also a member of the Association of Mine Managers of South Africa.
He has gained his experience as follows:
His mining career spans over four decades and he has experience in deep level gold mining, stoping of remnant pillar areas, undercutting shale bands, as well as primary development at the Free State Saaiplaas Gold mine from 1985 to 1990 and President Brand Gold mine from 1991 to 1996, where he was promoted to Production Mine Overseer from 1996 – 2003.
During his career he obtained various safety achievements, of which on 2 occasions the 1 Million Fatality Free Certificates and once 5 Million Fatality Free Certificate as General Manager.
In 2003 Tommie joined a contracting company in Rustenburg and in 2006 he was appointed by Newrak Mining as Planning Manager and then Site Manager in the Western Limb Platinum Belt.
He was instrumental in successfully establishing one of the Group’s contracts as one of the major projects of Newrak Mining, with a work force of more than 1,600 employees.
In 2016 he was appointed as Senior General Manager responsible for a work force of 3,000 employees in the platinum and chrome sector, after which he became the Operations Director of the RAMH Group.
